πŸš€ Kalpana Chawla: The Girl Who Touched the Stars |# malakiyatv

"The path from dreams to success does exist. May you have the vision to find it, the courage to get on to it, and the perseverance to follow it."
Kalpana Chawla

From a small town in India to the vastness of outer space, Kalpana Chawla's life journey is one of determination, discipline, and dreams that refused to die.

She was not just an astronaut. She was a dreamer who became an inspiration for millions.

🌍 Humble Beginnings

Kalpana was born on March 17, 1962, in Karnal, Haryana, in a conservative society where girls were often discouraged from having big ambitions.

But she was different. As a child, she would gaze at the sky and wonder what was beyond the stars. She loved science, airplanes, and space — even when people told her, "girls don’t become astronauts."

She didn’t listen. She believed in herself.

After completing her engineering in India, she moved to the USA for higher studies. She earned a Ph.D. in aerospace engineering and became a certified pilot. Her dedication caught NASA’s attention.

πŸš€ Into Space – Twice!

In 1997, Kalpana made history by becoming the first Indian-born woman to fly in space, aboard the Space Shuttle Columbia STS-87. She spent 15 days in orbit, conducting experiments and living her childhood dream.

But she wasn’t done yet.

In 2003, she went on her second space mission (STS-107). This mission was filled with scientific research, but sadly, it ended in tragedy.

On February 1, 2003, just 16 minutes before landing, the space shuttle Columbia disintegrated in Earth’s atmosphere. Kalpana and her six crew members lost their lives.

🌟 A Legacy That Still Inspires

Though Kalpana left the world too soon, her spirit continues to live on. Schools, scholarships, space centers, and even a mountain on Mars have been named after her.

She proved that no dream is too big, and no girl is too small to reach for the stars.
