Regarding the remains of a 2800-year-old settlement found in Vadnagar, Mukesh Thakor, inspector of the Department of Archeology says that excavations have been going on in Vadnagar of Gujarat since Prime Minister Narendra Modi was the Chief Minister of Gujarat. More than 2 lakh fossils have been found so far.
He says that by looking at this civilization, it seems that the water source and water management system here must have been so good that water would have been easily available for all the work from agriculture.. So this village would never have been empty..
Remains of Buddhist, Jain, Hindu three religions were found
People of all three religions lived in harmony
He said that so far excavations have been done at around 30 sites in Vadnagar. Looking at the evidence found during the excavations, it seems that people of different religions - Buddhism, Jainism and Hinduism - lived here very harmoniously.
A Buddhist stupa was found during the excavation
Seventh-eighth century skeletons were found
About three years ago, during the ongoing excavations at Vadnagar, the remains of a 3rd and 4th century Buddhist stupa were found. Remains of Shiv Dharma have also been found here..and also of Vaishnava sect.
However, seeing the Buddhist relics found here, it is believed that Vadnagar and its surroundings must have been a major center of Buddhism at one time.
Vadnagar is an ancient city of Gujarat. Its history is about 2500 to 3000 years old. According to archaeologists, agriculture was practiced here thousands of years ago. During the excavations, pottery, jewelery and various types of tools and weapons have been found here which are thousands of years old. Many archaeologists believe that this is one of the archaeological sites of the Harappan civilization. The Harappan civilization is considered to be the oldest civilization in India.

Vadnagar also has monuments related to the medieval period. The most special glory among these is Kirti Torana. It was built by the Solanki kings. It is believed that it must have been built to commemorate a victory.
Built on the banks of Sharmishtha Lake, this arch has two circular pillars with sculptures of animals hunting and fighting. They also have statues of deities on them.
